DVD-only OR DVD/Blu-Ray Choice?

As I get closer to finishing my Ploesti (Tidal Wave) documentary, it’s necessary to consider whether it will be released on only DVD, or both DVD and Blu-Ray.

As you probably know, DVDs will not give true “high definition” quality video, but Blu-Ray does.

Although all the original Tidal Wave film I’ve had transferred to digital format is in HD (high definition), some of the original film was not that good to begin with.  Most of it is outstanding, however, and I can produce the final documentary in HD (Blu-Ray) if there is adequate demand.

However, and this is the big issue, Blu-Ray is MUCH more expensive both to produce and obviously to purchase.  So, the question is (non-attribution; I’m just looking for feedback and not a commitment to buy): If Blu-Ray was available, would you buy it instead of DVD?

Please complete the Yes/No survey below (remember, this is NOT a commitment to buy, just feedback for me):

In a very short HD TV will be the standard. Do you wish to create HD quality material on yesterday’s format

Good point, but don’t forget that most people will not have the HD TVs right away. In any case, I know what I want–but what you guys want is what’s important!

have a look and see if you can find a documentary called ‘Utah Man’ about Col. Walt Stewart. 93rd BG. fascinating story and the Ploesti raid is a big part of his story. i think it was made by BYU tv, maybe PBS. still, worth a look.
        good luck.

Yep, I’ve got that DVD, Robin–thanks for the suggestion. Very well done, and Walt Stewart has been a mainstay in the Ploesti veterans’ activities over the years.
